Lemmo’s fancy e-bike is one of the first with a semi-solid state battery

The Lemmo 3 has more range, fewer explosions.

The Lemmo 3 is the first cargo bike from the respected German e-bike maker. This premium, step-through longtail is a slightly less insane take on Rivian’s Also TM-B , with one major advantage: It’s one of the first electric bikes to feature a semi-solid state battery .
Semi-solid state batteries are far safer than traditional lithium-ion batteries. Their gel-like composition offers improved energy density, with far less risk of thermal runaway. That translates to improved range and longevity from a more compact battery that’s unlikely to catch fire when left charging overnight in your house or business. The semi-solid state electrolyte even remains stable when punctured in a crash.
The Lemmo 3 is fitted with a massive 960Wh battery promising up to 180km (110 miles) of range. And by going with a semi-solid state chemistry, the company claims the battery is 20 percent smaller and lighter while still offering 30 percent longer lifespan. The removable battery can also power your AC appliances (up to 1000W) and USB-C devices (up to 66W) once you arrive at your destination, similar to Cake’s now-defunct Ösa .

The Lemmo 3 is being marketed as an eSUV just like the Amflow TL Carbon I reviewed . But this very heavy full suspension cargo bike will feel more comfortable on daily commutes to daycare, work, and stores than weekend single tracks. The bike weighs 39kg (86 pounds) with the 5kg (11 pound) battery installed.
Instead of doing something proprietary, Lemmo made its longtail compatible with MIK HD accessories. These include a wide variety of child seats, bags, and boxes that can be mounted on the rear rack. It can handle a 200kg (441lb) total load, with 80kg (176lbs) supported in the rear and 20kg (44lbs) on the front rack.
A quick-adjust saddle and handlebar makes the Lemmo 3 easily shareable, supporting riders from 155cm (5 feet 1 inch) to 195cm (6 feet 5 inches). The bike is fitted with wide tires on a 24-inch front wheel paired with a smaller 20-inch wheel in the back.
